Between the Two of Us [part 4]

The chill of fall hung in the hair as Ali slowly began to readjust herself to the strange enviornment of Pennsylvania. It took less time than expected and soon she was talking to the junior that had caught her eye two weeks into school. It was a flurry of emotion whenever she walked into the class and there was a winter dance coming up, a semi-formal.

She sat in class thinking, or rather waiting for him to approach her and she could feel her stomach churn from anxiety. Taylor was sitting next to her today try to coax her so that she wouldn’t freak out when he actually asked. The teacher wasn’t there at the moment so there really was nothing to do. When Alex walked in her heart nearly stopped from excitement but she contained it.

“Don’t worry Ali,” Taylor said with a wide grin. “I’m sure he’ll ask you.”

“Sure?” Ali asked. “I’m sure I’m invisible to him!”

As he walked in he glanced at her and smiled slightly and took his seat. After setting his backpack down he got his sketchbook out and seemed to be working on something with goal to give it to someone. A sigh escaped from Ali’s lips as she watched the pencil move across the page. She glanced at Taylor with an I told you so smirk and got her own sketch book out.

When she looked up again he was standing there and she looked astonished. Taylor had gotten up to get supplies and was talking to someone now in a low whisper. Ali threw a glance at her with a slightly menacing glare, but they both knew it wasn’t sincere.

“Hey,” Alex said studying Ali’s movements.

“Hey,” Ali responded with a coy smile.

“I was wondering if you’d like to go to the semi-formal.”

Ali grinned slightly though she was have other intentions in mind. She seemed to glance at another boy in class and Alex followed her gaze. A look of disappoint came over him and he back away slightly.

“I’m sorry,” he said in a lower whisper.

“Oh you think I’m going with someone?” Ali asked.

“Well you - looked at…”

“Of course I’ll go with you!”

He looked astonished for a moment and confused at the same time. He looked back at the boy she’d glanced at and was surprised to receive a glare. He returned to his discussion with Ali though before Taylor could come back and ruin it.

Note from Author: I’ve been a bit busy lately so I haven’t been able to update. I think I’ll only make about 10 parts to this due to the fact that it seems so teenagerish in my opinion. There needs to be a deeper subject in what I right because I feel like I’m just skimming the surface.

Between the Two of Us [Part 3]

The first few months in Pennsylvania were hard but as time passed it became evident she wouldn’t have a problem with adjusting to the new social cirucumstance. Many of the other students were curious as to why she moved and as the excitement slowed down she began to form new friendships. The pace of time seemed to quicken as she was invited to parties and went out to movies.

It was a month and a half after she moved when she received a phone call from one of her friends in Wisconsin. She was, of course, pleased to hear from them but highly distracted by a friend who was at her house at the present moment. Carmen, the friend from Wisconsin, was always known for being spontaneous. This call was one of those that would have normally been welcomed but due to the visitor that Ali had, it was more agitating. Taylor was impatient for her to get off the phone, which forced Ali to cut the phone call short.

It was the first step of separation between Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, one phone call and two words, “Good Bye.” Ali thought nothing of this as she went back to her discussions with Taylor. There present discussion was Andy, the most popular guy at school that could easily catch anyone’s attention. He had the air of Adonis as many girls said after the study of Greek Mythology in English class.

“Ali,” Taylor said with a grin spreading across her face. “You know you can be honest with me.”

It had been the question that Ali had dreaded when she first come here. If she was interested in anyone here she was sure to stay away from them, or at least that’s what she had planned at first. Her thoughts were betraying her as she turned the thought over in her mind, considering the options.

“Well,” Ali said in a sly tone. “There is someone.”

“Who,” Taylor said leaning forward, eyes wide with interest.

“The junior that’s in our art class, his name is Alex.”

Between the Two of Us [part 2]

The rain came down in sheets the day that Ali’s family was moving. She was watching out the hotel window as Dane and a few of her closest friends went towards the main entrance. She was dreading this moment and had been dreading it for a long time. Her heart beat quickened and she waited for the knock. When it came her father answered the door and let them in. He left then to take some things out to the car, which they’d be driving all the way to Pennsylvania with their pet cat Pink.

“OH I’ll miss you so much Ali,” one of the girls cried out as Ali was bombarded by the three that had come.

“I’ll miss you too guys,” Ali said with a meek smile trying to hide the fact that all the words only made her feel worse.

“Do me a favour,” Dane said after a moment. “Make as many friends as you can down there and enjoy yourself.”

He was sincere in his words though they had been whispered so the others wouldn’t hear them. Ali was a bit shocked at first but agreed to it though she doubted the ability to do this. It was a few moments later that her father came back in to collect some more things. He sensed the strain between the friends and he flashed Ali a sympathetic look that was more for an apology for forcing her to go through with this just before high school.

“You guys,” Ali said after her father had left, with tears on the verge of falling. “I’m going to mis you all so much. I’m going to try as hard as I can to visit you when I can!”

Her words were sincere but one of her friends glanced towards Dane unintentionally giving away something she disliked, a gut feeling that these friendships would never last. She was fearing now what she never imagined that she would ever fear. She was afraid one of her closest friends would commit the worst betrayal possible and steal Dane. Her stomach did a flip as she looked pleadingly at Dane who hadn’t notice this glance.

They left a few minutes later as her father came in to collect the last bags. He noticed the increased distressed in Ali and he opened his mouth to implore but shut it in fear of ‘intruding’ on his teenage daughter’s private time or space. The last bags were picked up and hauled out to the car. He paused the just outside the door to wait for Ali. She followed him out unwillingly and glanced at him before going down the hall.

Stopping a few moments later she turned to speak, “Father, I think its unreasonable that we’re moving and its just for your own selfish good.”

“You know I’m doing this to get a raise and be able to get better college funds for you,” he said gently.

“College? I’m not thinking about college! I’m thinking about whether or not I’ll be able to have friends to sit with during lunch. I’m scared that I’ll only being sitting at home alone for the rest of my life and I won’t have anything to do.”

“You can always make new friends, sweetie!”

“New friends? Right! As if they’d want to talk to a suburban, midwest girl with the traditional scandenavian blue eyes and blonde hair?”

There was silence then after she finalized her statement and her father was a bit struck at first but decided it would be best if he didn’t say any more. It was strained for the rest of the day as they drove through Wisconsin to the state’s southern border.

Author’s Note: Well hello! It’s Eva again just stopping by to see Good afternoon/night/morning or whatever time of the day it is. I know that it seems like I’ll be posting a lot right now but I guarantee there will be days when i won’t have the chance to update at all.

I’m recommending this game because it’s interesting and it gives you a perspective of the commodities that we have in every day life right now. For example we can reach running water quite easily in well developed areas. It also makes me realize how much pollution we put into the air now.

Between the Two of Us [part 1]

Dane and Aleisha had been best friends since they were about five and had always been together. They seemed perplexed now by the idea of being separated by at least three states.  Ali’s movement had caused an unsurmountable stress between the two although their parents had both said they’d be fine and they’d get over each other within days of being gone. Ali’s mother kept telling her there would be other boys in Pennsylvania and she’d go out with them more than she went out with her friends in this town and seemed fully convinced that Ali would be better off there than she was here, in Wisconsin.

It was a quiet when they met behind the shed that afternoon, discussing something of the matter that seemed to be too private to be said out in the open. It was as if there was an unrecognized level of shame passing between the boy and the girl. Their eyes expressed unexplainable regret and fear as they began to speak to one another. Their mothers had almost forbade them from talking for a while but realizing the agony the felt for the loss they took back that decision. Both were sincere now and determined with their plan.

“What month will you be coming down,” Ali asked as she took Dane’s hands into her own, examining them slightly as though she’d never be able to see them again.

“March or April,” Dane said with confidence. “I know it’s seven or eight months but my parents will forget this fiasco by then and won’t realize it. They barely notice me half the time anyways.”

Ali nodded slightly as if to acknowledge what he was saying. In the back of her mind though she thought he wouldn’t be able to manage doing that or what her mother said would actually happe. She’d heard this kind of story from a friend and was sure he’d forget about her. Dane seemed to understand what she was thinking and squeezed her hand gently.

“I promise I won’t forget about you,” he said gently before kissing her forehead.

They hugged then and separated so they could return home without making anyone suspicious. Ali was thinking as she walked the five blocks home about what he said. She shook her head slightly when the thought occurred to her that she could just as easily forget about him and then have him show up. It created a bold determination in her to never forget him, even it took up all her energy just thinking about him.

The trucks were scheduled to come to the house the next week to pick up her things. The few friends she had were throwing a going away party for her the the day before and she was anxious to see them all together again. They hadn’t had that type of gathering since school had let out at least two months ago. As she walked into the house she seemed anxious and almost excited at the same time but that overshadowing dread seemed to be wearing her down, causing her to sleep more than she usually did.

“Dad,” she said gently. “Are you sure we need to move?”

author’s note:

Hello everyone, thought I’d just post today since I did just create the journal. I’ve decided to do a short series since it’s February and it’s kind of obvious what exactly its about. I’m developing the characters  a little more and if you notice any errors notify me because I just typed it straight into the box so it’s more likely that there are errors. Another note I have for the bottom information. I will have a different thing for every day of the week.
