Between the Two of Us [Part 3]

The first few months in Pennsylvania were hard but as time passed it became evident she wouldn’t have a problem with adjusting to the new social cirucumstance. Many of the other students were curious as to why she moved and as the excitement slowed down she began to form new friendships. The pace of time seemed to quicken as she was invited to parties and went out to movies.

It was a month and a half after she moved when she received a phone call from one of her friends in Wisconsin. She was, of course, pleased to hear from them but highly distracted by a friend who was at her house at the present moment. Carmen, the friend from Wisconsin, was always known for being spontaneous. This call was one of those that would have normally been welcomed but due to the visitor that Ali had, it was more agitating. Taylor was impatient for her to get off the phone, which forced Ali to cut the phone call short.

It was the first step of separation between Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, one phone call and two words, “Good Bye.” Ali thought nothing of this as she went back to her discussions with Taylor. There present discussion was Andy, the most popular guy at school that could easily catch anyone’s attention. He had the air of Adonis as many girls said after the study of Greek Mythology in English class.

“Ali,” Taylor said with a grin spreading across her face. “You know you can be honest with me.”

It had been the question that Ali had dreaded when she first come here. If she was interested in anyone here she was sure to stay away from them, or at least that’s what she had planned at first. Her thoughts were betraying her as she turned the thought over in her mind, considering the options.

“Well,” Ali said in a sly tone. “There is someone.”

“Who,” Taylor said leaning forward, eyes wide with interest.

“The junior that’s in our art class, his name is Alex.”
